About

David Ullock (b.1988) is an artist and craftsman residing in Vancouver BC, on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

His creative practice is rooted in intuition and experimentation, and exists at an intersection of fine art and functional craft.

Working primarily with reclaimed wood and paint, the surfaces and textural qualities of these chosen materials guide his hand in the creation of unique abstract forms.

Curved and soft edges interact with hard and straight lines, connecting planes to each other in multiple angles. Undulating movements resemble shapes in nature, while ethereal figures emerge and fade with each shift in perception, offering the viewer to experience the artworks with both a semblance of familiarity and an exquisite alienness.
